Heating Start-Up Guide for Apartment Buildings and Office Complexes

Fall is almost here and, for building and facilities managers at apartment buildings and office complexes, this means it’s time to prepare to start switching from cooling to heating.  Heating a large building places a lot of strain on commercial boiler systems, and a good preventative maintenance program is vital. Here’s a heating start-up guide for commercial heating systems regardless of fuel type from a leading commercial HVAC contractor in NJ. Preventative Maintenance for Heating Systems  If applicable, replace all oil filters or clean thoroughly if they are reusable. Check the firesides for excess soot and remove if required. Clean or replace the oil nozzle (if applicable). Check the heat exchanger. Check all operational and safety controls. Burner combustion should be checked and adjusted for maximum efficiency.
